The celebration of his life

Dear friends and family, we are deeply touched by your warm affection and words of encouragement as we celebrate the wonderful life of Wa Doua Xiong, our beloved brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

It has been many years since it all began. But those many years have not diminished the unbelievable memories! Memories which began in 1976 when there were three Lutheran Churches in Canton, Ohio (Zion, Martin Luther and our church - Good Shepherd) that accepted the request of Lutheran Immigration Refugee Services to sponsor a Laotian family.

I (and Marilyn) have been in the Lord's service for 60 years. But nothing that we did in those years has given us more satisfaction and personal joy than bringing the Xiong family into our lives and learning to love you!

When I see pictures of all of you and what you have accomplished And that you are still practicing Christians, I thank God that He used us to bring you here!

By the way, Daniel - I had the honor of baptizing you! With help, I put together a bilingual baptismal service. At the end of the service, half of the congregation were in tears of joy!

Over the past few weeks, we have spoken with Say, Daniel and Abraham - and we thank God that we are still connected! Hope to see you soon!

Doua, my long time friend, I know that our Lord said to you, “Well done, good and faithful servant!”
